House crumbles under father’s trained eye

The house that Kristy and I checked out (and loved!) last night did not pass Mum & Dad’s expert approval. Sure, it looks awesome, well renovated, brilliant deck… but as it turns out it has some major flaws:

  • The water would have to flow uphill in order to get down some of the downpipes
  • The closest entrance to the house from the carport is the main bedroom. Which means walking through the bedroom after grocery shopping… not kosher!
  • Chance of water running under the house, which can’t be good for the foundation
  • No lockable outdoor storage (eg. garage (carhole), shed)
  • Yard not sealed, hence not friendly for the puppies (of course this is fixable, but I’m not much of a handyman…)
  • 3rd bedroom was very small
  • Potential for termite problems due to various wooden parts of the house being connected to the ground
  • Neighbours house towers over the backyard
  • Power point problems (though I’m not exactly sure what this entails)

As much as we tried not to, I think Kristy and I got a bit attached to it. That’s why it always pays to get a second opinion. Thanks, Mum & Dad!
