Turtles Bar & Grill

For an experience that you’ll never forget, head to Turtles Bar and Grill at Newstead. Kristy and I ate there tonight, in the guise of using up one of the soon to expire Entertainment Book vouchers.

We have surmised that the place must be called “Turtles” to prepare you for their speed of service. 5 minutes before the girl came to the bar to take our orders, 20 minutes before informing us that there was a delay in the kitchen, and another 20 minutes before our steaks were served. We were served with a free plate of corn chips and fresh salsa after being informing of the delay; however we were practically the only patrons in the place, so I’m not really sure what the hold up was. Watching 80′s rock idols sporting mullets on a giant video screen certainly helps pass the time, too.

To their credit, when we finally got our steaks, they were quite tasty – and 2 big meals for $23.90 is very good value. (Without the coupon it would have been double that, in which case I think we’d have had more right to complain). But – service at a break-neck turtle pace, hard-core 80′s rock videos, and a waitress who was seriously not with it… it definately makes for an unforgettable experience.
