Can’t afford petrol

What’s with petrol prices at the moment? I saw regular unleaded (“diet”) for 98.1 last night. That’s ridiculous! And since I religiously fill up with Optimax (hey, it’s better for the car) which rings in almost 10c higher per litre, we’re talking over $1 for petrol. So when you’re looking down the barrel of $50 to fill up your tank, that’s definately a good argument to move as close to work as possible (or even better – work from home more often).

In times of trouble such as these, where are we to turn for solace? 1 particular intellectual stands out in my mind, and we can all benefit from his wisdom:

Homer: I’ll buy her that pony she’s always bugging me for.
Marge: We can’t afford to buy a pony.
Homer: Marge, with today’s gasoline prices, we can’t afford not to buy a pony!

Spiderbait agrees; they had a whole song dedicated to buying a pony. Looks like I’ll need to get me one. Do they hand them out at the pound? I think I’ll call mine “Shenanigans”.
