I’ve never been much good at planning meals for the week, buying groceries for said meals, and then (most importantly) sticking to that plan. Instead, Bender and I used to just head up to Coles to grab what we needed for dinner that night.
Well, now that Bender has moved out, I’m trying to turn over a new leaf. See, shopping every day gets really expensive. So this week, I have done it – the bulk shop. I figure I’ll still need a couple trips up to the shops to grab “freshies” – milk, veges, etc – but hopefully I’ve got the bulk covered. But let me tell ya, something felt wrong about forking out $100.81 for groceries in the one hit. I don’t know if I’ve done something wrong here or not.
Anyway, Nelly – who was always gutted by the thought of shopping every day – is going to tutor me in the art of weekly shopping. So now, the challenge goes out to get the bill down from $100. Then again, think of all the Fly Buys points!

That is an average amount for shopping. The more you do it in bulk the cheaper it gets. You will reuse a few other things that where brought in the previous shop. The joys of home life
Be careful to not to shop hungry. When you shop hungry you tend to buy what you don’t need. You’ll be walking about picking all sorts of things thinking "Oh that look’s yummy I could go one of those and those and those and those ….". So smart shoppers have a little snack before-hand like a milkyway bar or a nice cold milo. Bugger I’m feeling hungry!
good on ya!
That is a good shop for your first one as you need to stock your pantry. Eventually you will get that cost down. We pay 160-170 week(thats for 4) including veg and milk. Now we need to get you cooking some yummy cost effective meals and you will be a whiz when Kristy hits Bracken Ridge. You will have her swept off your feet.
Nelly
