Life has been different since Bender moved out. The house looks emptier without his stuff in it, and feels emptier because I’m the only one there. But some things haven’t changed – Ben is still there on most weekdays, as it makes sense for us to car-pool to work together.
Bender used to love my coffee – or so he would say. I used to make coffee for him almost every day, and he’d always tell me how good it was. (Except when I was having a bad day, often caused by my shady Starbucks thermometer). But since he has moved out, it seems his taste in coffee has changed. Now when I offer, I usually get a flat out refusal. He’s no longer interested in my coffee.
Perhaps when he was living there, he felt the need to flatter me with false praises. Maybe my rent was too high, and now that he has moved out he’s equipped with more money, hence the reason he prefers to pay $3.50 for a latté from the Koffee Kar. Maybe I just make bad coffee? (Doubt it).
Anyway, clearly I need to lift my coffee game, to again become Bender’s number 1 coffee supplier. I feel like such a failure having lost my biggest fan. I think I’d better enrol in the Merlos coffee making course to learn what I’m doing wrong.

That is such a sad story Gerry. I’ll be your new #1 coffee fan! xo
