As I’ve said before – you can’t beat good customer service. It seems as though IBM have jumped on the “customer care” bandwagon, and developed a bunch of utilities to help diagnose and fix problems with their computers. Monkey suggested I try running the “Diagnose and fix intermittent lockups and hangs” utility, as my work PC freezes for long periods whilst running Visual Studio.NET.
Here’s the list of “suggestions” that the utility came up with:
- Uninstall the problematic software
- Update drivers (audio, video)
- Run CheckDisk
Hmmm… usefull? Useless! A more accurate diagnosis would have been, “Your computer is a piece of junk. That’s what you get for buying IBM”.
