FlightSim

That seems to be the catchcry of Americans and where better to find evidence of it than at the giant FAO Schwartz store?

Here you will find the biggest stuffed toys I’ve ever seen and toys that cost up to US$300,000! And what do you get about for $300,000? This NASA quality flight simulator, of course!

You can pay US$30,000 for a petrol powered 4WD for your kid (who incidentally is too young to drive). To put that in context a Chrysler PT Cruiser – yes for adult use – costs less.

If spending that much on your kids doesn’t scare you, try this on for size. At FAO you can also have a doll designed to look like a smaller clone of your child (complete with matching outfits). Or… and you really do need to see this for yourselves… you can select a baby from what looks like a hospital nursery. Inside, nurses of both genders walk around nursing the babies and bringing them out on your request for a test run. Wierd? You bet.

gerrod.com rating? 8/10. Though it is one of New York’s must sees, it may leave you feeling strangly troubled.

Anything that big and that red has to be fun, but I think a pool table would look better in the den.
