Small Gifts

Kristy and I are deferring Christmas this year until Australia Day, for a few reasons:

 1. Given how hectic life has been in the last few months, we haven’t had a chance to do any Christmas shopping
 2. We’re away from all our family and friends, so we don’t have anyone to exchange presents with (without posting them, that is)
 3. This way, we’ll capitalise on post Christmas sales instead of paying over-inflated last minute prices
 4. I don’t get paid until the end of the month, and we have expensive tastes

OK, so reason number 4 is the main one – but hopefully reason 3 will do us favours as well.

Still, we can’t just let Christmas slide by as “just another day”. We’re determined to cook up an absolute feast, and stuff ourselves silly. We’re even going to try our hand at making egg-nog! And it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have any presents to open, so we’re going to exchange a small gift each. Though I have already passed on a few not-so-subtle hints for what Kristy can get for me, I’m without idea as to what to get for her! So finish this sentence for me:

A great gift for Kristy that’s under $20, is ……….

(Allie, this one is right up your… err… ally!)

Oops mate…sorry, I have been terribly slack at keeping up with the blog. So now the time has passed, I hope you found something nice for Oompa that met your budget. I am certain that anything you bought from the heart is what she has always wanted. I would have filled a thermos full of hot chocolate, and packed a picnic with some favourite foods, and surprised her to a breaky in Central Park or somewhere equally as memorial. :-)

Well, that would have been a great idea Allie! Except it would have been freezing cold – yesterday Central Park was covered in snow!

So…even more reason for the hot chocolate to be HOT, and an even better excuse to cuddle under a blanket! hehe. :-)
p.s. Sorry we got the time (and DAY) wrong when we called…forgot you are actually ahead of time. We’ve made a mental note for next time. Hope you are both well and warm. Tikaani and Winston are missing Oompa terribly. Tikaani has asked me to do a psychotic dance around in circles for you, with a few unusual wolf-like noises, and Winston snorted quietly in my ear that he would give his left eye to have you back. (I had to remind him he didn’t have it anymore), poor senile old fella he is. Anyway, love to you both from the Rattey family.

Hello there Ratteys with opposable thumbs! Please give the two junior family members my love. I just did a psychotic dance in return for Tikaani’s benefit! There are quite a few puppies I’m missing in Aus and your two darlings are amongst them.
