Since the day we got here, Kristy and I have read a lot about the West Village (also called Greenwich Village). It is seemingly the place to go for pretty much anything – so we decided to venture down there today. It was totally awesome!
For a start, it’s home to a whole bunch of cool stores, like Tower Records (huge range, cheap prices!), Gray’s Papaya (supposedly one of the best Hot Dog venders in New York), and Matt Umanov Guitars to name a few. Of course, we paid a visit to each of these vendors as well as many more, and completely wore ourselves out in the process. We were so impressed by the variety down there that West Village has rocketted to the top of our “places you must see when you visit NY” list.
For example – after a few hours of shopping and walking we were greatly in need of a coffee hit. Tempted by the eyeball-popping offerings in their window, we headed into a quaint little cafe called “Rocco’s” and proceeded to order a Latte each, and a slice of Lemon Meringue Pie to share. The coffee was exceptional, and though the slice of pie was enormous, it was so tasty that we could have done another one. We were a little nervous ordering without seeing the prices, but got a very pleasant surprise when the bill came to less than $10! Bender, Spesh, Lou, Steve – we’ll be takin’ y’all there when you get here…
With so much shopping available, the credit card also got a bit of a work out – our best purchase being a new CD – “Details” by Frou Frou. Kristy and I are both big fans of the song “Let Go”, which features on the Garden State soundtrack. When we saw the whole album for $10, we figured it would be a worthy purchase, and I’m glad to say that it was money very well spent.

Hmmm that cake on the moblog looks good. There has been a lot of cake on the site since the blog moved to the states. Come to think of it there has been a lot of food as well. If your not careful you’ll have to rename the blog ‘gerrod.com | diet nyc’. Yes, to dispell all doubts, I think I’m funny
Yes that’s very true, though food plays a huge part in our lives, and we’re both such big fans of it. Also since the States is the Land of Indulgence, it’s hard not to go a bit crazy sometimes…

Diet NYC, here I come…
After all that reading, I’m all tired out! Boy you two know how to pack in a day
