Apartment photos

As promised, here’s some photos of the apartment, showing off our new Ikea furniture. (See how well assembled it looks?) The place is a bit messy as we’re still in the throws of unpacking… but, who do we have to impress? (Click thumbnail for full sized image).

This is the dining/lounge room, with a computer desk at the back-left. As you can see we only have 3 dining room chairs (at the moment), as one of them was a dud and needs to go back. At least that means we get to build more furniture! :-| Dining Lounge
A close up of the lounge room. We actually got our TV delivered yesterday, so it’s now sitting on the entertainment unit. Unfortunately, we don’t have an antenna, and the cable guy doesn’t come until tomorrow – which means the TV is just for decoration at the moment, anyway… Lounge
Our rather cosy (but functional!) kitchen. We discovered this morning that if you have the fridge door open, you can’t open the cutlery drawer. The cutlery drawer is so small that we can’t find a cutlery organiser for it! Kitchen
OK, don’t even bother telling me that “you could have at least made the bed!” – I took the photos in a hurry, ok? Kristy has done a great job tidying the place up since the photo was taken, anyway. That big cardboard thing at the back functions as our curtains at the moment! Bedroom

Yay so glad to see your photos – it looks fantastic. I especially liked the couch which looks like it *may* fold out into a bed for your visitors. And I also liked the strategically placed alcohol on top of the fridge. Good to see you arent letting us down in the drinking department :)

Of course the couch folds out – actually it’s pretty comfy to sit on, so I’d imagine it would also be quite comfy to lie on.

Feel free to come and test it out! :-)

Come on Gerrod… exercise those engineering skills of yours and switch the fridge door hinges to the other side. That way you can open the fridge door onto your wife instead of onto the cutlery drawer… :-)

I have just noticed how thick the door of the Refrigerator is – about twice what we have here. Is this because the manufacturers are suddenly conscious of energy use and it is packed with insulation, or is it just so that the handle can be placed on the edge? Is the shelf inside extra deep?

I’m not really sure why it’s so thick – to be honest, I hadn’t noticed until you pointed it out. Yeah, the shelves are pretty deep, but not too much so.

I see you’re offering your couch as a comfy place to sleep. Will it still be as comfy in August?

I think it will be comfy all the way up until the end of October, and then hopefully another year after that too :-)
