Tonight, while Gerrod and his colleagues bloked it up watching Constantine I too went to the pictures. “Who was I with?” you might ask. Well, rest assured I was in good company… with me myself and I (and a bag of buttery popcorn).
In Good Company is one of those drama/comedies that we soft-hearted folk love, open minded people tolerate, and hard core sci-fi/action fans despise. If you’re in that final category you might as well stop reading now. You’re not going to see it anyway!
The flick tells the story of a 51 year old Dennis Quaid’s struggle in coming to terms with having 26 year old Topher Grace (of That 70s Show fame) instated as his boss. Apparently this is a growing trend in the business world as up and coming executives are rewarded for their drive and less importance is put on tenure and experience. Ooh, and it doesn’t help when Topher starts dating Dennis’ 21 year old daughter, played by the unbelievably beautiful Scarlett Johansson.
One of the movie’s highlights is the chance to play buzzword bingo when the big boss (Malcolm McDowell) tries to motivate staff with talk of ‘synergy’.
I’d give this baby a 7 out of 10 if you’re soft-hearted, 5.5 out of ten if you’re open minded, and if you’re hard core… Well if you’re hard core you probably stopped reading three paragraphs ago anyway!
