Thank goodness we have curtains up now, because Ben and Spesh have arrived! Truth be known, we went out to surprise them at Jamaica Station last Sunday night, when they arrived at the ridiculous hour of 11:15pm. However, their first night here was spent in a hotel so they could catch a bus for a week-long tour around north-eastern America.
But the tour is over, and now they are our very first guests! Yesterday, Kristy and I took them downtown through Washington Park for a cup of Joe’s (the only decent coffee shop we’ve found, which is unfortunately a long hike). Then, it was a quick tour around some of the West Village, then over to Union Square for some shopping.
Lunch time was spent at the always delicious Ray’s Pizza – I wonder if it’s anything like Shell’s Dad makes… ? A quick subway ride took us down to Centry 21 for a quick spot of shopping – and of course an obligatory visit to the Ground Zero site. It was an exhausting morning/afternoon so we headed back home for a good sit.

Last night we introduced them to 2 of our favourite places for food – Buttercup Bake Shop, and Chipotle (thank goodness for our quick trip to the gym in between)!
We tied off our first day with a party at Fabia’s apartment (one of the girls from work). We had an awesome time, and Kristy and I were so pleased to meet some locals. We didn’t get home until 2am so needless to say it’s been a slow morning… but it looks like we’ve got another huge day coming up. So much to see, so little time!
