Mini Thai Café

At the party on Saturday night, I was fortunate enough to meet a girl who lived down in the East Village. Kristy and I had only been down there a couple of times, and each time we were disappointed with what was there. As it turns out though, the secret is that you have to go later in the day – at least after 4pm – to see the place in action. Additionally, a lot of up-coming chefs apparently train there, so supposedly you can get a really good meal quite cheaply.

So taking the tip from a local, the gang headed down there for dinner last night. Our destination – the Mini Thai Café – reputed to serve excellent food without busting the wallet. I’m pleased to report that they lived up to their reputation! The food was delicious, service was efficient, and the prices were very reasonable. We all walked away happily with full tummies.

On the way home we also saw a number of other places that looked fantastic. Quite a few were overflowing with people, so I’m thinking they have good reputations (at least with the locals). We really enjoyed our expedition to the East Village – so much so that it has now made our list of places to take all our visitors one night for an evening meal!
