I came home to a very pleasent surprise yesterday – our coffee machine had turned up! We had to send it back as the boiler had blown the first time we tried to use it. Apparently, this was because it wasn’t primed immediately after turning it on. (Unfortunately, the instructions give no sense of urgency to do this, it was only after talking to the repair guy on the phone that I found out it was required).
So this time I was armed with the knowledge of how to get the machine working properly. I switched it on, primed it up, and it worked, hurrah! I’ve already run the machine through it’s paces fairly well, and I’m pleased to report that it brews an excellent espresso. Just look at that crema! The milk frothing arm (the “panarello” for the barista’s out there) also works quite well, producing a great quality micro-foamed milk. My only complaint is that the arm sits in a bit close to the machine body, which means the angle that you have to hold the pitcher is quite awkward.
All-in-all it’s a fantastic machine, and Kristy and I are happy campers. Mmmm…. fresh espresso….

well dagnabbit – its about time!
how you have survived so long without one is a mystery.
now at least there’s some incentive to come and c u guys.
We’re absolutely loving it! I got a call from a friend in our building yesterday (Carrie) saying “do you know how to use it yet? Can I come down and try some?” Coffee even helps you make friends!
I reckon I’ve got double the energy in the mornings now too! And it gives Gerrod a good reason to get up and get ready for work!
surely you can adjust the steam arm?? doesn’t it just pull/slide out??
You’d think so, wouldn’t you. Unfortunately not – it moves around to the front of the machine which seems to be the best spot to use it, but no further.
