The price of a seat in New York City

Rumour has it that New York is an expensive city, but I had no idea it was this expensive.

In Central Park, many of the park benches feature plaques like this one, dedicating the bench to a loved one. They always remind me of that bench in Notting Hill that a man dedicates to the wife who used to sit beside him on it. I couldn’t think of a better mememto to leave behind when we leave the city and decided to investigate how to have one of our very own.

It’s called the adopt-a-bench program and I was amazed to discover that adopting a bench costs at least 7,500 US dollars or rougly 9,700 Australian dollars. Now that’s an expensive seat!
