Shopaholics

We had a $20 credit to be used up at Ikea, thanks to Craig and Carrie returning some curtains on our behalf (thanks again!). Though we didn’t particularly need anything, we felt confident it wouldn’t be too hard to spend, and since we are in need of clothes for summer, we figured some shopping at Jersey Gardens would be beneficial. Hence, our plans for Saturday were quickly forged.

The bad thing about a trip to Ikea is that it pretty much writes your whole day off, and given that we’d already been out there 3 times before, we weren’t particularly enthused about another trip. The good thing however is that there’s a Chili’s at Jersey Gardens, which for me means 1 thing – ribs! I love a good length of baby back ribs, and Chilis do them especially well.

After devouring our lunches, we hit the shops. Unfortunately we didn’t spot too many bargains, though I did manage a lot of success at Quiksilver, scoring 2 pairs of pants and some jeans for about $70! We wrapped up our shopping by grabbing the bus back to Ikea and spending our credit by replacing some of our broken glasses and bowls. We even grabbed some new coffee cups that actually fit under our espresso machine!

Needless to say we were pretty worn out by the time we got home, yet we still managed a trip to the gym (see Roo – it’s not that hard…). Our very full day finished with home-made pizzas for dinner, and North by Northwest on DVD (gerrod.com rating: 6/10 – sorry folks, I’m just not enthused by old films!).

So what is Ikea in America like?? We just love Ikea! Apparently they are building a bigger and better one in Brissie.

Ohh, a bigger Ikea? That’s cool! I always get lost in the Brisbane Ikea, but not so much the one over here.

Ikea here is HUGE! It’s 2 levels, has 2 restaurants (hot dog + large soft-drink = $1!), and about 30 checkouts that are always packed. They run a bus service for free from Manhattan all day Saturday and Sunday… they really must be making a mint out of people.
