Let’s Go Yankees!

Yesterday we checked another big item off the Cotton’s to do list by journeying out to the Bronx to watch a Yankees game!

The Yankees convincingly beat the Baltimore Orioles with a final score of 12 runs to 3. A few intricacies of the game were lost on us, including elements of the scoreboard, but we got the gist of it and had a great time. Highlights included:

  • Seeing the fans all decked out in their Yankees gear
  • Sheffield hitting a home run that brought two of his teammates home (pictured)
  • Seeing the staggering size of popcorn containers (about the size of an adult torso!)
  • Learning that people will happily pass money, food items, and change down the line from customer to vendor
  • Seeing a few marriage proposals on the big screen at half time

By a cruel twist of fate, Gerrod who so kindly organised the tickets, accidentally selected a day game and couldn’t attend! It was a real bummer that he missed out so we’ll have to go again sometime soon.

Wow! … Yankee Stadium. Did you get to see Steinbrenner… or was he off munching on a calzone? Anyway, it looks like more fun than sitting in Suncorp Stadium on 6 July :’(<br><br>Hi M&C from all the Trappetts. Sounds like you’re having a great time. It’s really quiet across the road at the moment … and here we were thinking Leanne was the noisy one ;) <br><br>Keep safe… look forward to seeing all the pics when you get back.<br><br>Cheers.
