Yesterday we checked another big item off the Cotton’s to do list by journeying out to the Bronx to watch a Yankees game!
The Yankees convincingly beat the Baltimore Orioles with a final score of 12 runs to 3. A few intricacies of the game were lost on us, including elements of the scoreboard, but we got the gist of it and had a great time. Highlights included:
- Seeing the fans all decked out in their Yankees gear
- Sheffield hitting a home run that brought two of his teammates home (pictured)
- Seeing the staggering size of popcorn containers (about the size of an adult torso!)
- Learning that people will happily pass money, food items, and change down the line from customer to vendor
- Seeing a few marriage proposals on the big screen at half time
By a cruel twist of fate, Gerrod who so kindly organised the tickets, accidentally selected a day game and couldn’t attend! It was a real bummer that he missed out so we’ll have to go again sometime soon.
