Neighbourhood of Friends

friends

Yesterday was such a beautiful day in Manhattan, that Kristy and I decided to go exploring. The night before, we finally got to see the final episode of Friends. For the first time (at least that I’ve seen) when they did the pan across the outside of Monica’s apartment, they showed which intersection it was on – Grove and Bedford. So that’s where we headed to.

Turns out that the neighbourhood is really cool, full of quiet streets, funky apartment blocks, and trendy cafes. We were most impressed! While we were down there (right next to West Village), we checked out lots of local merchants – clothes, food, street art, etc – very cool. It was a perfect way to spend the day, browsing at everything and coming away buying nothing. Well, that’s not entirely true – we did pick up a birthday present for Stackers, but she’ll have to wait until she gets here to get it :-)

Cool – was Central Perk there or is it just a set in the studio I wonder?

Definitely in a studio! Apparently there’s a cafe called Central Perk in France, but there’s nothing in Manhattan by that name!
