Having scored some cheap passes from one of the lads at work, Craig and I headed down to see The Fantastic Four this evening. I was a big fan of the cartoon as a kid, and having accepted that the movie is an adaptation from a comic book, I was pretty sure of what to expect.
And, as it turns out, my expectations were fairly accurate. Basic story – four blokes and one lass head to space for an experiment with some magical cloud thing. Stuff goes wrong, DNA gets altered, and the folks end up with superpowers. 4 of the folk use their powers for good and become known as The Fantastic Four; 1 uses his power for evil and becomes Doctor Doom. After each struggles with their new identities in their own unique way, the Fantastic Four have to unite and save the city from certain destruction at the hands of Doctor Doom.
Fairly simple and straight forward, but personally I thought it was good clean fun. So long as you don’t go into the movie expecting award winning drama, and you’re not too much of a “c’mon, that’d never happen” type of dude, then you should enjoy yourself as well. I definitely enjoyed seeing this one on the big screen, but I don’t think it would suffer too much should you get it on DVD instead. gerrod.com rating: 7.5/10.
Of course, a movie like that raises the question, “Which of the superpowers would you want”? I think I’d definitely be taking the invisibility/shield powers, they just seem like the most practical. Doctor Doom’s electricity thing is impressive, but at the end of the day, what are you going to do with it?

Can I somehow take on all of their powers? If not, can I create my own?

I’m a big fan of the teleporting power. Just blink my eyes and I’m instantly somewhere else in the world.

How cool would that be? I could rob banks, steal food, or just enjoy endless sun by transporting across the world as day turns to night.

What a life.
Hmm, I’d probably be a teleporter too. Maybe with a bit of a telekinesis thrown in so I could transport food/remote controls to me instead of having to move to get them.

Yeah. I’d be a teleportkinesiser for sure.
