Last night, we trolleyed off to Central Park to see the New York Philharmonic Orchestra play a free concert to anyone that wanted to go. Not that I’m usually one who indulges in such cultural events, but a free concert is a free concert, and we did have M&M’s to snack on, so I dragged myself along. Craig and Carrie also joined us, so we had ourselves a real Aussie picnic (but without the snags, mozzies and green-ants).
Not surprisingly, the music was very good; though I think that Dad would have enjoyed it much more than I did since he’s into that kind of music. The only bad thing was that a lot of people around us were more interested in talking (loudly) to their friends instead of listening to the music. I mean, a hushed whisper or a quiet conversation would have been fine, but certain groups around us were just stupidly loud. Clearly they need to refer to the Stickfly rules for whispering.
What was even more surprising was that after the show, when the fireworks started – everyone went quiet! I really didn’t get it. I guess people hear better with their eyes than their ears.
