Quote of the day

I desperately try to avoid watching Amercian news on TV. Rather than simply reporting factual accounts of the day’s happenings, they try to create a state of fear by pumping up the drama no matter what the story is. Worse still, in the news “briefs” between shows (you know, like the “Coming up in the news” segments they show in the ads), they never actually tell you what’s coming up; instead they try to give you tid-bits to entice you to watch the news. Fox News is definitely the worst offender for this one.

In that vein, I thought today’s calendar quote from Ellen DeGeneres was remarkably accurate:

The local news does these teases that are so incredibly cruel… “It could be the most deadly thing in the world and you may be having it for dinner. We’ll tell you what it is tonight at 11:00.”

Give me Heather Foord anyday.

That’s soooo funny it makes sense. That would give me a heart attack if I heard that on the news.
