I have no idea how to review this movie – Kristy and I are almost at polar opposites about it. For those of you that haven’t seen the preview, the movie is about John Beckwith (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy Klein (Vince Vaughn) who crash weddings to meet women. At each wedding they play a different persona, with different roles and strategies to make the women fall for them. However, their plans are thrown into disarray when Beckwith falls in love, and Klein is forced to accompany him (at considerable personal risk) while he tries to win over the girl of his dreams.
Now, I thought the movie was rather funny. I’m always quite partial to anything with Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, or Will Ferrell in it, so to feature all 3 of them (Ferrell plays a minor role) meant the film was off to a good start. Though I don’t find the in-your-face American humour too funny and hence found myself laughing when a lot of the other patrons were quiet, overall I still laughed quite a lot. I found the scene when Vaughn was expressing his enthusiasm about going quail hunting particularly funny.
Kristy however thought the movie was far too rude, and felt that they could have achieved the same goal using more subtlety and causing less offence. Though I agree with her, I guess I took the movie for what it was. It’s definitely not one for the kids, and yet the folks behind us had their young girls there, who were both easily younger than 5. gerrod.com rating: 7/10, mainly losing marks because I had no idea what to write in this review. kristy.gerrod.com rating: 4/10 (“there were some funny bits, but I just can’t get past that it was very rude.”)

I thought it was hilarious! 9 out of 10!
Kristy is too nice a girl to take to a movie like that! However she now lives in NYC… so I thought that would have softened her up a little. I was hoping that she would appreciate my jokes more when the expats returned home.
