Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I was rather excited when I first learned that the next film in the Harry Potter series was on the horizon, so of course I was eager to see it as soon as it came out. So yesterday I joined Kristy, Jason and Louise, and Ryan Craig (their friend who is visiting from Australia) at Loews Kips Bay for the 7:30 PM digital screening.

If you don’t know the Harry Potter series, then jumping in at this one – book number 4 – probably isn’t a good idea. But for the avid fans, the movie is a corker. Most of the major points were well portrayed, and all the while being nice and entertaining. And even though it’s about a two-and-a-half hour movie, it certainly wasn’t a clock-watcher.

On the downside though, it’s been ages since I read the book, so I didn’t pick up on many of the discrepancies – of which, Jason assures me that there were heaps of. Then again, when you’re trying to film the longest book of the series in a decent amount of time, I guess you have to cut some corners. And for me, it certainly didn’t detract from the movie at all. I’m sure the hard-core fans will feel differently, but hey – I thought it was still very entertaining. gerrod.com rating: 8/10.

Glad to hear that this movie was pretty good – I almost got dragged to go see it this weekend (they’re not too cheap here in London).
