Our last day in London was fairly sad, as it always is when saying goodbye to friends. But after seeing Ben and Chelle off to work and packing up our bags, Kristy and I set out to the London Eye. This meant we had to negotiate the tube by ourselves, which we managed to do successfully (all our practice from the New York subway helped!).
Unfortunately the weather was a bit overcast/hazy, so we didn’t have the greatest visibility. But it was still great to be up so high to get an overview of the city. From our pod, we could see Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminister Abby, Waterloo station, as well as many other prominent buildings.
After our flight (that’s what they call a ride, since it’s run by British Airways), we again negotiated the tube back to Chiswick where we enjoyed lunch in the High Street. After we headed back to BaM’s house to grab our suitcases, we were on our way back to Heathrow for our flight home.
Unfortunately we didn’t secure an upgrade to business class, but since the time zone was on our side (travelling East –> West is always better than West –> East), we didn’t even attempt to sleep on the plane anyway. I was once again impressed with British Airways’ service, and having enjoyed a flight in both business and economy, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
We were back home and eating dinner by about 8:30 PM New York time, and though we were already missing our friends in London, it was great to be sleeping back in our own bed.
