Welcome to 2006 everybody! An especially big welcome to baby Gabrielle Morgan-Rattey, born on New Year’s Day to proud parents (and wonderful friends) Steve and Allie! Weighing in at 7 pounds 6, she arrived at 10:26 AM, and easily takes the prize for first baby of the year!

We welcomed the New Year in on the roof of Charles and Amanda’s Brooklyn apartment. It was quite overcast and foggy, which made the skyline very atmospheric.

Taking up the stickfly.com challenge, we’ve made a list of some of the things that happened in 2005. Boy what a list! Our lives look much more exciting when they’re in point form, with lots of travel, visitors, and new toys keeping us busy. Keep reading to see our summary of 2005.

(Note: This covers January – June; July – December will come tomorrow).

January
By January we were finding our feet in New York, kicking off with New Year’s in Times Square. We secured a lease on our apartment, and we were feeling the cold! We also kicked off the first gerrod.com competition.

February
Katie won the art competition with her entry called Happy Sheep with Big Teeth. February was an active month, with a trip to hunter mountain to go skiing, and we also joined the gym. Since our espresso machine hadn’t been delivered, we were still looking for good coffee in Manhattan.

March
Our espresso machine arrived but it wasn’t working, so we were still without coffee. But our first visitorsBen and Michelle – arrived for some playtime in New York! One thing we did with them was see our first broadway play, which was fairly average, and then I got sick during their last few days here. But on a happier note, Julian and Shelley tied the knot back home! We uncovered Monkey’s secret double life, and terrible customer service was really starting to annoy us.

April
We took our first trip to Philadelphia to check out the Liberty bell and the Museum of Art. We finally got a working espresso machine, and enjoyed making coffee once again. Spring arrived, and so did Pat and Mark Fry for brief visits. In the entertainment arena, we went to the Jimmy Eat World and Garbage concerts, and the Tribeca Film Festival. Kristy’s parents kicked off their world trip with a few weeks in New York.

May
The Harvey’s and us enjoyed 4 wonderful days in Washington. Kristy and I had a great day riding around Central Park, and we saw Snow Patrol in concert.

June
We enjoyed a great weekend in Florida visiting the Cookes. Kristy enjoyed some Opera in Central Park and a Missy Higgins show, and I moved into a new office at work. We rounded off the month with a visit to Boston to check out Harvard.
