Apparently the German equivilant of “This is da bomb!” is “Das ist der Hammer”, which roughly translates to, “That is the hammer”. I guess it makes about as much sense as calling something “da bomb”, and when said in one’s best Arnie accent, it even sounds cool. I’m going to be integrating that one into my everyday lingo, to make myself sound more international/well travelled.
Anyway, that was just one insight of many which Ginny so kindly shared with us over dinner this evening, at Pam Real Thai Food. Reviews said that this place served the most authentic thai food in all of Manhattan, and judging by the quality of Thai food we’ve had so far here, it’s not a hard claim to back up.
Well, this time the reviews seem to be right – the food was delicious, and we at least thought it tasted authentic too. Plus, mains were all under $10 which meant dinner was a relatively cheap venture for once. Some advice for punters: Don’t order A1 as the appetiser, it’s nowhere near as tasty as it looks. Still, I’d definitely go back there, though it’s a hike to the other side of Manhattan, so maybe it will have to wait until the weather warms up a bit.
And, once again I find myself without a photo of anything relevant, so here instead is a photo of MC wearing a beanie. (It was either that or some clip-art of a hammer). If MC were here with us today, she’d be wearing a beanie, because it’s cold. Also it was MC’s birthday on the weekend, so I guess it’s not totally irrelavant – Happy Birthday Melissa!
