Icky start to the day

For the first time, I’ve just switched from night shift to day shift mid-week. I don’t like it. Admittedly, I brought it on myself, but I still reserve the right to complain.

The day started with the annoying sound of an alarm clock. I don’t like alarms. I don’t like getting up before the sun. I don’t like having only been home from work for about seven hours and then having to contemplate returning.

The alarm lead to the always-fun task of packing for a weekend away. That was followed by the equally enjoyable, “Have we forgotten anything?” routine. We had. Gerrod’s sunglasses.

The day seems to be empathising with me, putting on a lovely show of grey skies and rain. Walking to work in headwinds of up to 22 miles (35 kilometres) per hour didn’t cheer me up. Grrr.

Oh, and how’s this for a lowlight? A job I was very relieved to be rid of last night when I went home was waiting for me when I returned. Double grrr.

The good news is that all this leads up to an exciting weekend of… skiing! The next entry should be far more cheerful!

It gets worse before it gets better: We have to endure waaaaayyy more hours on a bus than I’d ordinarily like :-(
