An afternoon in Brooklyn

Fondue

For a change of pace, Gerrod and I spent an afternoon in Brooklyn with Ysabel and Patrick. If I had to make a generalization, I’d say that Brooklynites are less stuffy than Manhattanites, tend more towards groovy hangouts than chain stores and consequently have some really unique stores and dining options.

We spent a blissful hour or two at the Chocolate Room enjoying fondue, cake, wine, milkshakes, coffee etc along with the cosy vibe of this husband and wife-run establishment and the company of good friends.

The chocolate treats were very tasty but what really impressed me was the Australian port I tried. It’s called Grant Burge 10-year tawny port and seems nearly impossible to find over here. I see the beginnings of a new quest…

That looks like a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

And how do Ysabel and Patrick fit into the G&K picture?

I work with Ysabel, in fact she was kind (and patient) enough to train me in my job!

Hey KJ, trippy about your port comment, I’ve been enjoying a bit of port myself lately. Must get a bottle of the Grant Burge Tawny eh?
