Failure to launch

Tripp and Paula out sailing

Failure to launch is widely regarded as a chick flick. Apparently because this film is not about bank robberies, armageddon, or criminal activity, because there is a shocking absence of violence, because Matthew McConaughey takes his shirt off and because Sarah Jessica Parker keeps hers on, only girls will enjoy it.

Well, this girl certainly did. And I would venture to say that most fellas who are dragged along kicking and screaming will probably enjoy it too (even if they don’t like to admit it). Failure to Launch offered a few good laughs for young folk and empty nesters alike and actually covered some new territory in terms of subject material. Plus, I love movies with a bit of sailing in them. It always looks so darn fun!

Failure to Launch is due for release in Aus on April 13. I issue you readers with a challenge: try to work out what films you’ve seen McConaughey’s software developer friend and Parker’s housemate in before. rating? 7.5/10. Good harmless fun.
