Feeling better, but still not sleeping

Many thanks for all the “get well soon” wishes from everyone. You’ll be pleased to learn that both Kristy and I are somewhat on the mend, and almost back to a regular diet. We’ll probably stick with our “safety foods” a little longer, until we once again have stomachs of iron!

But unfortunately, the sleeping thing still has us thrown. This morning I woke up feeling energized enough to hop up and get ready for work, until I discovered it was 2 AM. Somehow I fell back asleep, but by 6 AM we both succumbed and got up. The upside is that I’m practically the first one to get to work; downside is that by about 3 PM I’m completely wrecked.

Speaking of work, the first day back was a total write off. Thankfully, my boss recognized this (I’m not sure if it was the bloodshot eyes or me sleeping on my keyboard that gave it away), and told me to go home when I was tired. Good thing, because my head was spinning, and I couldn’t concentrate on anything for more than about 15 seconds. That’s still probably better than a TV junkie, but somewhat below my usual standard of 18 seconds. Thankfully today I was feeling much better, and started getting back into my normal work routine. Work is much more enjoyable when you’re fully present :-) .

Anyway – in short, everything is on the up and up, so we should be all good by the time Jason and Kellie come for their visit on the weekend. Woohoo!
