Sydney – Day 1

Unfortunately, Sydney hasn’t been putting on the best show of weather for our visit. But nonetheless, being the bright eyed, bushy tailed little troopers that we are, we’re still making the most of it! The first thing on our list of things to do was to catch a ferry out to Manly, to enjoy some water-level views of the harbour, and eat some hot chippies on the beach.

Sydney Harbour

We took our time walking along the very serene Manly Beach, over to the more sheltered Shelly Beach, and then back again to the Corso, where we grabbed a pizza for lunch from the Steyne hotel. It was vegetarian – pine nuts, spinach, pumpkin, feta cheese, and coriander – and it was delicious! Cathy would have been proud!

After the trip back to the city, we had a quick browse around The Rocks, but the weather was none too good, so we only took a few photos before fleeing for shelter. If the skies had have been blue, we would have taken a brazillion more photos, but I guess you win some, and you lose some.

Next, we headed over to the Pitt Street Mall for a browse through the Sydney shops. We didn’t buy much, since we’ve been spoiled with shopping in America, where everything is much, much cheaper!

We ate dinner at I Thai restaurant in King Street Wharf, with Jason and Louise, brother Jason, Stevie D, and Rebecca – a friend of Jason and Louise whom we met in New York. Sometime last year I remember reading a review saying that Sydney restaurants were the best in the world, and suffice to say that I Thai lived up to that expectation.

We were very worn out by the time we got home – truth be told, I was falling asleep in the car – so when we finally hit the sack, I was straight to sleep.

I am very proud! That pizza sounds yummo.
