Last night we met up with Damien and Lisa for dinner at Patroon’s, an American steakhouse. Jason and Louise loved this place when they lived in NY so we finally decided to check it out!
When we were arrived for our 8pm booking we were politely told to head to one of the bars and wait until our table was ready. That’s something we’re learning about New York restaurants – it doesn’t matter if you’ve got a booking, they’ll still take the opportunity to milk a few extra bucks out of you before you sit down. So we headed to the rooftop bar which had a surprisingly fun vibe. By 8:30 though, we were ready to get stuck into some tucker. When we asked about our table a gentleman (presumably the manager) approached us and apologized for the wait and offered us a free round of drinks while we waited. Score!
As Damien says, there’s nothing like a free drink to set the tone for a fun evening, and that’s exactly what we had. The food was divine and we all enjoyed getting to know each other a little better. And while Damien and Lisa braved the commute, we were oh-so-thankful to be just seven blocks or so from home. Aah, gotta love living in the city!

Tell Gerrod we need a reader profile on Damien and Lisa
I know – but I don’t have a photo of either of them! Perhaps I’ll mock one up…
No probs. Currently they’re avoiding the paparazzi but we’ll work on it.
It would read something like this: “Damien, a schoolmate of Kellie Williams and his American-born girlfriend Lisa met gerrod.com staff during the Williams’ recent visit and have become fast friends.”
