The end of another weekend

Yesterday afternoon we did the same thing that probably 75% (or more) of the northern hemisphere did – watched the World Cup grand final. Since Australia was out, I certainly didn’t have much preference for who won – as long as it wasn’t Italy. D’oh! And now that it’s over – what’s everyone going to talk about?

Anyway, Jeremy and I stayed back after the game to polish off a few more quiet ales – it’s amazing how quickly the pub empties after the game has finished! We went from vying for a measly few tiles to stand on, to having our choice of seating!

Eventually we both stumbled home (mental note – do NOT go alone to the pub with a kiwi rugby player). On the way, we both managed somehow to pick up some buttercup (Mmmmm… fattening…). It was probably as a peace offering for the wives, but I’m not sure if it’s as effective as just because flowers… ladies – what’s better, flowers, or chocolate cake?

Anyway, after a blurry night, I had muchos trouble sleeping. By 5:30am I somehow convinced myself that going back to sleep would be a bad idea. Kristy didn’t seem to have that trouble, so I shipped off to the gym. Amazing how quiet 2nd Avenue is at that time of a Monday morning.

2nd Avenue

Now, this may come as a surprise to y’all, but after a rough night’s sleep, pushing weights isn’t the easiest task in the world. I think I managed about 4 machines before deciding that I’d fulfilled my workout quota. Thank goodness the gym is only 10 minutes walk from home; I was back in bed and fast asleep by 6:30am.

Yes, it certainly was a trippy 12 hours.
