It’s been a long day.
We very sadly said goodbye to Ben this morning. Kristy, wisely decided to have a quick goodbye hug then wave Ben out the door, but I decided that I’d instead see him off at the airport. Unfortunately Ben’s flight was at 8:30AM, which meant we had to be on a subway by 6AM! But the early start was worth it; it was nice to be able to say a proper goodbye, airport style.
So after a sad farewell and a trip back into the city, Kristy and I called Michelle to let her know that Ben was safely on his way home; then we grabbed ourselves some breakfast. Not long afterwards, we got a call from Lisa, inviting us out to New Jersey for a swim in their pool. We figured it was either that or gym, so off to Jersey we went!
After a swim and a game of hearts, we were headed back into the city. One great thing about leaving the city, is that you usually get a great view of the city – and that’s certainly the case from Lisa and Damien’s local train station. Check out the view they have every morning of downtown Manhattan! (Note: the buildings with the green roofs – behind my head, to the left a little – are the remaining towers of the World Trade Center.)

When we got back to our apartment, we headed straight upstairs to Jeremy and Cathy’s place for dinner. Cathy cooked us all a beautiful steak and salad, complete with meringues for dessert. Delicious! But after such an early start, and a swim, I’m just about ready to call it a night – and at only 9:30PM! Much earlier than usual!
