I am unlucky!

You know what? Laura from London was right!

I have never known someone to have been so unlucky with gadgets! Surprising that you are still so positive, but then again, we all love receiving things in the mail…!

In fact, she’s only partially right – I think I’m unlucky when it comes to buying anything! See, it all started with the notoriously badly packed Oakleys. Then it was my Motorla Razr which has now been repaired no less than five times (but appears to be working properly now, touch wood). Then it was the dud bluetooth wireless headset (the battery died after 5 minutes, so it got sent back). Then it was the faulty RAM chip that I got for the Macbook Pro.

But sadly, the story gets worse. The latest thing to fall victim to my curse is my brand new Macbook Pro. I had noticed since I got it that the display “buzzed” rather noisily when it was at full brightness. Kind-of like that high-pitched whining sound that your TV makes when you’ve left it turned on but not tuned in to a channel, only much louder.

At first I thought it was normal – if the TV does it, why shouldn’t a laptop – but the more I read up on various forums, the more convinced I was that I had a dud display. So yesterday we trudged down to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store in SoHo to get a Genius’ opinion.

Well, the news was good and bad – good because it’s a fault, it’s fixable, and covered by warranty, but bad because in order to fix it, it needs to be sent away. So now I’m Macless for the next “7-10 business days” – and just when I was really getting into it as well! Oh well, at least I’ll have another exciting package coming in the mail soon… :-)

The bright side is you will now have more time to play your new XBOX 360 game because you don’t have your Mac to play with!

Hey :) How old is your MB Pro? In AU they’ve had a few duds and apparently they’ve just swapped them in the first two weeks…. So annoying. Just got a nice new black MacBook myself!

Shane: Whatever! We’ll see whose laughing when you get a nasty virus, or some nasty spyware… :-)

Michelle: Good point! And truth be told, I think I wasted invested about 10 hours of playtime over the weekend!

Cam: Unfortunately it’s about six weeks old – so still pretty young, but certainly out of time for an insta-swap :-(
