Christmas in New York was very relaxed and informal for Kristy and I, and we enjoyed every minute of it! Like any good Christmas, we started off with our pile of presents.

Christmas presents!

We must have been good this last year, because Santa was very kind to us! Some of our presents included a new XBox 360 game, a new watch each, a gift voucher for Anthropologie, The Settlers of Catan, plus a whole bunch of other stuff. Good on ya, Santa!

After all that present opening, it was time for some breakfast. I had requested Eggs Benedict as our Christmas breakfast, but Kristy went one better by including smoked salmon, avocado, AND roast potatoes. She even made the hollandaise sauce from scratch! Yum!!

Next on our agenda was some high quality TV. Kristy had spotted the “Kath and Kim Code” on a few days earlier and recorded it to watch on Christmas day. Now I love watching Kath and Kim, but an hour and a half in a row was actually quite painful, and we were glad when it finished! We recovered with a coffee.

Our afternoon seemed to scoot by very quickly. The responsibility of ensuring the new XBox 360 game was compatible with our system fell on my shoulders, so I begrudgingly sat there and tested it for a few diligent hours, whilst Kristy baked up a storm in the kitchen.

Now I’ll bet you’re wondering how after all that food we managed to fit dinner in – and that’s a fair point! But given that there was a roast lamb with gravy, potato, sweet potato, parsnip, and roast pumpkin (my favourite!) on the menu – not to mention the sour cream apple and walnut pie for dessert – we couldn’t exactly say no, could we?

Lamb Roast

Yes, it really was a delicious day of feasting and relaxing. Of course, our number one choice for any Christmas day would be to spend time with family and friends, but I think that given that wasn’t an option, we did the very next best thing.
