(With apologies to all the vegetarians out there.)
I don’t know how the tradition started, or even if you’d call it a tradition so much as a stupid excuse to get totally porked (and for the second time in one weekend, no less) – but yesterday, a few of the lads headed out to Tony Roma’s for the annual Meatfest 2007*. The objective: eat meat!
And, eat meat we did! For our entrees, we order two round of chicken wings – one spicy, and one grilled sesame. For our mains, John, Alex and I all had a full rack of St Louis spare ribs, with various sides. Feeling that wasn’t quite enough, we also ordered a beef rib each to share. I’ve never had a beef rib before – at least not like this one: it was basically an entire steak on a rib bone, extremely tender and delicious! Ben and Nathan both ordered a half rack of St Louis ribs, and topped it off with a sirloin steak sandwich and chips. Delicious!
By the end of the meal, we were all suitably full, but none of us were quite bursting at the seams. Does that mean we failed? Perhaps we need to go back for a second try – so it’s lucky I included this disclaimer:
* We reserve the right to hold a second Meatfest 2007 should our meat levels become dangerously low hence creating an immediate meaty need for meat.

Hmmm .. quite frankly the idea of all you guys going out for a “meatfest” sound awfully suspect to me.
It’s not a sausagefest kirsty. You always have to take it down to lowest level don’t you?
Appropriately though, I see one or two faces there contemplating Quick-Eze.
Ha ha. So I take it Ben’s “vegeaquarium” (sp?) diet was short lived! Gerrod, are you leading the boy astray with these meat-fests!
No way Cathy, Ben strayed back into the light all of his own doing
