Jason and Louise’s Wedding

We snuck back into Australia last week to be in Sydney for the wedding of our friends, Jason and Louise. We flew out of London late on Tuesday night, and arrived in Sydney very early on Thursday morning. So far as long haul flights go, it wasn’t too bad, but staying awake for 16-or-so hours when we got here was a bit of a task!

Anyway, we survived our first few days and by Saturday, the wedding day, we actually felt quite ok. Jason and Louise totally scored with the weather – it was a picture perfect, blue sky day! Their wedding was a midday affair at Pilau at Freshwater, a lovely Italian restaurant overlooking a stunning beach. The day rolled along perfectly – Jason got to the venue and greeted the guests plenty early, Louise arrived on time, and the emotional ceremony went off without a hitch.

After drinks and canapes for the guests, and photographs for the bridal party (from the nicest wedding photographer I’ve ever met – he even unashamedly stole a few of my ideas for some of his shots!), we headed inside for the delicious food. The MC for the afternoon was fantastic – as Jason put it so well, he was an “inspired choice”. Like the ceremony, the speeches were filled with emotion; I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.

All too quickly, it was time for the bride and groom to make their departure. After waving our goodbyes then helping pack up the gifts, we headed back to Cremorne and crashed, completely exhausted from the day. I guess the jet-lag hadn’t worn off as much as we had thought!

[...] We arrived just as the sun was considering its descent below the horizon, and secured ourselves a good spot for some beverages. We also met up with a gaggle of Sydney locals – Charlie (who used to work with Aubain and I in London), Lisa (of New York fame), and Jason and Louise (who need no introduction). [...]
