One thing that I know I won’t miss from London is commuting in peak hour. Sadly, when your job requires that you do a fairly standard “nine-to-five”, there’s not much else you can do except brave the tube/train/bus with all the other people stuck in the same routine.
To be fair, the trains usually run at a high enough frequency (every four to seven minutes) that they don’t get too jammed up. Some days are of course worse than others, and thus far my record for the number of different people that I’ve been squashed up against is six.
But one factor which makes a fairly typical commute into a fairly horrendous one is when you get to the station, and every train is either delayed or cancelled. Like many of my other fellow commuters, the only option then is to jump on a tube instead.
Seems I wasn’t the only one with that idea!
Actually I had a strange thought as I was taking this photo; what if a police/community support officer came and asked me what I was doing? Logically, the answer is, “taking a photo of a busy subway station”; though I’m not sure how I’d explain why I was doing so, nor do I know if they’d believe me!
