Yorkie: Not for girls

Today I had my first ever Yorkie bar. Technically, it may not have been my first ever, but I certainly don’t remember having one before.

Yorkie Bar

There’s a common misconception with these bars, being that their slogan is “It’s not for girls”, however that’s not technically true. See, it’s quite a chunky bar – weighing in over 300 kcals – and as such, the slogan is actually, “It’s not for girls who are calorie counting, unless this is pretty much the only thing that you’re going to eat today – in which case, look no further!”. Obviously that wouldn’t fit on the packet, which is why they go with the abbreviation.

I also think that if this bar was made by Cadbury (instead of Nestle), it’d be called the “Cadbury Fruit and Honeycomb” bar, because it’s effectively a “Fruit and Nut” bar with the nuts replaced with little chunks of honeycomb. No complaints there though; my favourite bits from the fruit and nut bar are the ones with sultanas in them, and there ain’t a man alive who don’t love himself a bit of honeycomb!

I’d happily add the Yorkie bar to my chocolate bar roster, but it really is quite heavy – so perhaps it’s one for sharing only. Just not with girls.

are you sure it wasn’t raisin and biscuit? I didn’t think the honeycomb one had any fruit in it…?
