Our kitchen is almost in a usable state! The stone benchtops got delivered and installed today, and they look amazing!

Kitchen with benchtops

The single piece of stone at the front of the photo (with the cooktop mounted in it) is 1200mm wide (almost four feet), double that in length, and weighs about 200kg. I’m sure glad I didn’t have to carry that upstairs!

Tomorrow, we have our plumber coming to connect up the sink and dishwasher, as well as the electrician to wire everything up. Which means as of tomorrow, we should be able to use our kitchen! We unfortunately won’t have any lighting (save for those on the rangehood), as that’s being done by a different electrician next week. Plus, it still needs a bit more paint, and the tiles need to be mounted on the splashback. But it’s oh-so-close, and we’re oh-so-excited!

PS: (for Helen) – the espresso machine has its own dedicated spot at the back of the photo, underneath the wall-mounted cupboards!
