TV Update

Well, there’s good news, bad news, and then more good news regarding the TV.

First, the good news (well technically that’s “First, the first bit of good news”): the shipping company has found our TV!

Unfortunately, the bad news is that they found our TV in London. Yep, due to some form of negligence on the company’s behalf, they forgot to load our TV onto the boat with all of our other stuff (which amuses me, as originally they had said to us, “it definitely made it to Brisbane, but for some reason it didn’t make it on to the delivery van”. I’m hoping they weren’t just telling us that to pacify us…).

We also weren’t terribly impressed with the manner in which the news was broken to us – along the lines of, “Great news, we’ve found your TV at origin, and we’ll promptly load it onto the next boat!”. So that means another two to three months of waiting! Of course we weren’t terribly happy about this, and after reading over the terms and conditions of carriage of our goods, we felt we were entitled to some form of compensation since the problem was caused by their negligence. Kristy, being the master craftsman of words, promptly wrote to them and gave them three options:

  1. Put the TV onto a plane and air-freight it to us to expedite the process;
  2. Declare the TV a write off, and pay us for it’s insured value; or
  3. Pay for a hire TV while we wait for ours to arrive

And so, the last part of good news: the company immediately agreed that they should fix the problem! They decided on the third option, so now we have a 106cm plasma TV dominating our living room!

Big TV

It’s not quite as sleek as our TV (in my opinion), and it’s only got one HDMI input – but the picture quality is great, so no real complaints!

Would have thought it would have been easier and probably cheaper for them to buy you a new TV here and put yours on eBay or something in the UK. Oh well glad at least you have a bit bigger TV now!

Is the smaller one there so you can see what’s happening from the kitchen?
