Day of rest, my eye!

If I was going to become a rapper, I’d have to name myself “X-hausted” as that’s what am I after a day of hard labour! Well it’s all subjective of course, but here’s what got accomplished:

  • Cleaned the gutters on the roof: Let me tell you something; this was nowhere near as fun as I thought it was going to be. Our tiles are way slippery, and the constant visual reminder that the ground is two whole stories away was not very comforting. But, it’s coming into storm season, and I suspect the last time the gutters were clean, the house was sporting a “Whitlam for PM” sign out the front. Added bonus – heaps of really good mud for the garden! Speaking of which…
  • Dug out the herb garden: The right-hand side of our herb garden has always done well; we now have more parsley than we could ever eat (and not that dodgy curly stuff Durham; we’re talking real, man parsley). Unfortunately, the same wasn’t true for the plants on the left, which all struggled to maintain life ever since they were planted. Today, I dug all the soil out from under them – which as it turns out was mostly clay. That’s all now been replaced with a mixture of mulch and potting mix, and we’ve planted some basil, lemongrass, and tomatoes. Hopefully they’ll do better than the corriander and mint did!
  • Mowed the lawn: I even did the straight up-and-down lines in the backyard that Melanie likes!
  • Cleaned out the fridge: Kristy definitely was champion of this effort, and I was amazed at how much stuff came out that I didn’t recognise. I’m sure it was all food at one point, but for the most part, it didn’t look like food anymore. I suspect some of it actually came alive, and I swear I even heard one item ask to go back in. Request denied, buddy!

Thank goodness tomorrow is Monday, a day of rest and recovery! Oh, wait… no, that’s not right…

Sounds like a hard day! At least you can now tick all of those things off the list. We went to the beach :)
