My run of good luck with health just keeps on going! Before our recent trip to Sydney, the doctor told me I had a mild case of bronchitis, and prescribed some antibiotics to clear it up. However, she advised that I should only take them if I thought that I wasn’t getting better of my own accord; I thought that I was, and I’m not a fan of taking antibiotics unless they’re absolutely necessary, so I gave them a skip.
A week or so later, it seemed like I’d made the right decision – my cold had cleared up, and I was feeling on top of the world! But, it wasn’t long before the symptoms started up again, and soon my coughing was bringing up enough phlegm to… well, I’m not sure what you’d do with a bucketload of phlegm, but if there was some practical use for it, then I’d be in good stead.
I went back to the doctor on Tuesday, and she confirmed that once again, I had bronchitis. This time, the antibiotics aren’t optional, so I’m now on a three-a-day penicillin diet. She said it would be at least two days before I’d feel any better – so far they don’t seem to have had any effect, so hopefully she’s right and it’ll all kick in tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
