Lots of the fabulous people who we are privileged to know were born in August, so it’s no surprise that August is a month full of birthday parties! We had two such parties to attend this weekend – first up was Ted, who hit the ripe old age of two on Friday.
Ben and Michelle put on a “Train” themed party, complete with a spectacular four-carriage train cake!
Best of all, the cake was educational – now, all the kiddies understand how gummy bears, jelly beans and skittles are transported to the shops!
Sunday saw us heading over the river to Balmoral to celebrate Thor’s third birthday. Stu and Celeste threw a pirate themed party at the bowls club, and as it turns out, a spare bowling green is a perfect spot to dump a jumping castle!
Actually, having a jumping castle turns out to be both a good and a bad thing for Oscar. Good, because he absolutely loves it, and he completely wore himself out bouncing around inside (typically with a little monologue, “Jumping… jumping… jumping… and… down!”). But bad, because it turns out to be rather difficult to remove him from said jumping castle! I think he would have happily moved in! We did manage to bribe him out of there for long enough to see Thor’s cake, which had been expertly crafted by Celeste.
But, as soon as the cake was out of sight, it was straight back to the jumping castle! Oh well – who can say “no” when they’re having this much fun?
A huge thanks to Ted and Thor for having us all along to help celebrate their birthday!
Finally, a big Happy Birthday to young Nina Bramley whose birthday also happens to fall in August – but Ipswich is a bit far for us to make it for a party. Even if that was Ipswich QLD, I’d probably still make that claim – but in this case, we’re talking about Ipswich UK! Happy first birthday, Nina!
