Lovely Racey McRace bought us some lovely new trackables! Well, she bought new trackables for Kristy, but I’m claiming the whale coin for my own.

One cool thing about trackables is that you can give them a goal before setting them out into the wild blue yonder. For example we sent off a dog tag with the mission of reaching Ben and Michelle in Australia – and it’s so very, very close to making it there!
But we haven’t thought of a goal for either of these two yet… any suggestions?

When you drive along the Gateway Motorway everyday, it’s practically unavoidable to be near trucks. And driving near trucks means you’re going to get hit by stones. Well, today, for the second time, my windscreen has suffered at the hands of a stone. This time though, instead of a small chip, my windscreen has been cracked. As you can no doubt guess, I’m rather impressed by this.
Also, my brakes are a bit squeaky, so could be time for new brake pads. Plus I’m due for a service in about 3,000 k’s. All up, I reckon I’m looking at about $1,000 to get it all fixed. So, should I just fork it out and keep driving my beloved little car, or is it time to move on? Here’s a couple of vehicles I’m considering:
What should I do?

A few extra responses for the nickname saga! In case you hadn’t noticed, I updated yesterday’s post with some bonus names from Nelly, Westy and Adam (don’t believe me – go check!). But here’s a few more that were thrown on the table today:
- From Stacey: Guru (or “roo” for short), Eeno (but I’m not sure how I “earned” that one)
- From Lou: Gerry (“I can’t believe no one said that!”), G-Dog (hmmm… sounds a bit American Idol to me)
- From Andrew: Tiger, Sport, Champ, Young Fella, Cobber, Mate, Matey, Digger, China (China?! What the… ?!)
- From Monks: Gerrod Gerry Rodriguez (ala Bender Bending Rodriguez)
Andrew’s nicks are all corkers, but I’m fairly certain that if you were in a crowded room and yelled out, “hey mate!” then I wouldn’t be the only one to respond

Here’s the pick of the nicknames that I was “given” yesterday -
- From Karl: Scooter (pictured), or Skeeter (his preference)
- From Adam: Tommy, Dicko (Dick Johnson drives a GT falcon)
- From Nelly: G-rad (cause I’m so radical!)
- From Ant: Falcon (similar to Adam’s suggestion), Subway (if I was “Jarred”)
- From Bender: Thomas, Thomo, Gomo, Gomas, Ged (pronounced (“Jed”), Geronimo, Geronimous, Gumby, Gump, Grenwich (my initials are GMT), CGITW (Coolest Guy In The World – pronounced “Sigawit”), Gello, HOG (Half of GaK = Gerrod and Kristy)
So many decisions. What do you think? Entry is still open if you have any more ideas

I need to get me a new nickname. I’ve never really had a nickname where I thought, “hey, that’s a top nickname”. Last night at touch footy (where we earned a well deserved victory of 4-3), everyone was talking their nicks up. “Bender, you’ve got green hat guy”… “Watch the winger, JP“… “Nice try, Micky D!”, etc etc. But when it game to me, it was just plain old “Gerrod”.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against my name. I mean, I used to hate it because when you met people for the first time, no-one could ever get it right. “Hi, I’m Gerrod” – “Derek?” – “No, Gerrod.” – “Greg?” – “GERROD” – “Oh right, sorry Jarred” – “Whatever”. But now that I’m the owner of gerrod.com – hey, look who’s laughing!
But still, you can’t beat a top nickname. Lisa and Angie used to call me “Topdeck” because I had dark brown hair with blond tips – that wasn’t too bad (and quite creative, I thought). Occasionally I get “G” when Kristy is talking about me to friends – also that’s what Conrad calls me because when he first met me he could never work out how to pronouce my name. The Durham’s have all sorts of wacky names for me, such as “Gerrodious”. My gaming alias is “Link” but that’s a bit too geeky to insist people call you.
So, let me know what my nickname should be!

Looks like popular opinion says that the size of the house (or “comfort factor”) is more important than the location. However, it was a very narrow win, with only 2 votes the difference. And to be fair, many people said that they’re both important. Adam summed it up the best, with this:
You cannot get a third party to tell you whether the grass is greener here or there. And if you dont have both, then you will always wish you had the other.
Good call. So really, I’m back to square 1. With this in mind, Kristy and I are trying to arrange an inspection of the house at Boondall. Stay tuned!

Kristy and I checked out another house yesterday, also in the Virgina area. It was beautifully renovated brick house, with quality paint, downlights throughout, a cool deck, brilliant kitchen, and a really solid fence. The only problems that we saw:
- Small pantry – Personally not a problem because I shop every day (sorry Nelly), but I’m sure that will change when Kristy is running the shop
- No outdoor storage – you’d have to add in a shed
- Fence isn’t dog friendly – but not too many mods required to fix this one up
- It’s a little small – besides the bedrooms, the whole place was probably a little smaller than my current house
Basically, what it comes down to is size & space versus position. As an example, we’ve also been looking at a place at Boondall. It’s $10k cheaper, is a much bigger house, and is built on a much bigger lot. However, it’s another 8 – 12 minutes out of the city by car, and at least another 10 minutes out by train (guessing).
So readers, when it comes to real estate, what’s more important – size, or position? Please, let me know!

Thanks to everyone who voted for their favourite chocolate bar! It seems as though there are a lot of people out there who are passionate about their snacks! I had many humourous responses from a variety of chocoholics who had much trouble narrowing their list down to only 3 bars. My favourite response, however, (from an “anonymous reader”) is below:
1. Take 5. Sadly taken out of production while at it’s prime. Two thin bars of Cadbury Dairy Milk dotted with Maltesers (looked like a series of humps on an oddly straight (and short) camel).
2. Violet Crumble. Far surpasses it’s rival Crunchie. Crunchie bars always have one dodgy chewy side. Violet Crumble are 100% reliable, and rumoured to be an excellent addition to cheesecakes.
3. Mars Bar – the old favourite. From Fun Size to King Size there is sheer delight in every bite.
