We thought Geocaching would be right up your ally, and we really wanted you guys to get into it! So, we bought a travel bug and sent it on a journey, with the goal of finding you all the way over there in Australia. Surprisingly, it made it there a lot faster than we had expected it to!
Perhaps if you have time one day, you could stop by in Bardon to try and pick it up?

After work tonight, Bender, Nathan, Karl, and myself went for beers and dinner at Lonestar. After that, I headed to Rebel Sport down at Chermside, to pick up my heart rate monitor which had been in for repairs. Seems like a pretty normal thing to do of an evening.
Well, seemingly if you’re a “kid” aged (say) 15-17, your ideal plans crossed somewhat with mine. The number of kids down at Chermie was amazing! There must have been about 300 – 400 of them, all loitering around the cinemas, Playtime, and just outside the entrance. Madness! But why, I ask you? When I was that age, I would have been either at work, or home doing school work. Why don’t these kids have jobs? Why aren’t they studying? What’s so cool about hanging around a shopping centre? What’s wrong with the world? (Or have I missed something here… ?)
2 movies in the same week! That is rare for me; before this week I haven’t been to the flicks for ages!
Anyway, Bender and I headed to Garden City to see Spiderman 2 last night. Bender had fairly low expectations, after not liking the first movie. Being a big fan, my expectations were much higher!
Overall, the movie is very enjoyable. The plot is much more developed than in the first movie, and the story that it tells is of Peter Parker’s struggle to be Spiderman, as well as living an ordinary life. I thought the movie would be more action based, so I was a little disappointed – however, the fighting scenes are done particularly well. The CG for Doc Oc is absolutely amazing!
Both Bender and I thought the film was much better than the first one. Definately a must-see on the big screen. gerrod.com rating: 8/10.
A huge plus of working at home is that you can exercise during your lunch break, instead of walking aimlessly around a shopping centre. And today is such a beautiful day, so Bender and I decided to go for a 40 minute ride.
It’s amazing though, how quickly you become unfit if you’re not exercising regularly. That was our first ride in at least 2 weeks, and we were both feeling it. Actually, the opportunity for the photo only came because we both needed a rest. But hey – we were conquering some huge hills, so the rest break was well deserved!
Of course, you’ll be pleased to know that we both made it back home safely. Now, back to work –
Whenever you move into a new house, you would expect to get a bit of mail from the last tennants. One would hope though, that most people would be diligent enough to either change the mailing address for their important mails, and perhaps look into redirection for the rest of it.
Well, I have been in my current house for almost 3 years now, and I am still getting mail for Nikki Mahne. And we’re not talking about advertising here (though we get that too) – we get mail from superannuation funds, investment houses, etc. For the first 18 months I was here, I religiously sent it all back – “Return to sender”. After that, I just started chucking it in the bin. My latest strategy though, is to just put it in Ben’s mail pile, then say “hey Ben, here’s your mail!”. He laughs every time – it’s a joke that just keeps on giving. It works with the ones addressed “To the pizza lover” too – though I suspect that those ones really are for him, anyway.
Being out of milk (hence no cereal or coffee!), Bender and I took a morning ride to go and get some. Of course, to make it worthwhile, we went via Deep Water Bend – a ride that traditionally takes 25 minutes. Well, that was my first ride in about 4 weeks, and lets just say that I’m not as fit as I used to be. I thought I was going to die trying to get up the tinest of hills on the way home. Oh well, can only get better from here.
Toni, Bender and I headed down to The Glen hotel tonight (near work), to partake in the weekly trivia night. Suffice to say, we sucked. Out of a possible 45 marks, we only got 23. To our credit, I reckon we were possibly the only team to correctly name what “BIOS” stands for.
Unfortunately for us, we lost out on an “easy” five marks, because we didn’t know what single word goes in front of the following words:
We didn’t even know what an armada was! Oh well. Think you know the answer? Have a guess, and I’ll let you know how you fared.
Bender and I trolleyed off to the local auction house today, to see if we could pick up a bargain laptop. There was only 2 on display that were worth buying, and both sold for more than a smart buyer would pay. So it was a disappointing result overall – but for those of you into Big Brother and other such “social experiment” reality shows, it is quite an “interesting” mix of people that were in attendance. Think not of your average working class couple after a bargain, and instead think of people who need to be guided to the deodorant aisle at Coles. I think that’s all I’ll say about that
I came home this evening after enjoying a delightful dinner with The Durhams to find that Ben was nowhere to be found! Immediately my paranoid (yet creative) mind started thinking about the aliens that may have captured him, and the horrible things that they may have been doing to him…
Luckily my fears were quickly put to rest when he arrived safely home about 10 minutes later. No aliens to be found.
