What a game!

Well, you certainly couldn’t complain about the State of Origin tonight (unless you were a Blues Loser, that is). That try scored by Billy Slater from the kick of Darren Lockyer was probably the best try I have ever seen in a game of Rugby League. Up the maroons!

Stupid field goals!

I hate it when a game of footy comes down to a field goal. Especially when it’s “Golden Goal” scenario – the game has gone into extra time, and the first team to score wins. No matter who ends up winning, you can’t help feeling ripped off. Especially when it’s the evil team (NSW) that wins. Not that I’m bitter – congratulations to evil NSW on winning the first game of State of Origin. I’m sure the tables will be turned after the next game up at Suncorp Stadium.

Lets go, Broncos!

Winners!

Losers!

Good on ya Broncos, another fantastic game yesterday. A thrilling win in an away game versus the Wests Tigers. After a nervous first half, the Broncos came storming home, scoring 20 points in the second half. The final score: 32-24.

Of course, nothing goes without controversy. The NRL have decided to strip Brisbane of their 2 points, due to an illegal player interchange. Personally, I think it was the ref’s fault, as he was the one that restarted the game before the injured player (Shane Webcke) was off the field.

The Broncos play Melbourne Storm this Sunday at 2:30pm. I’ll be on the couch with a beer in my hand!

The Good Life

Kristy at The Home Show

Kristy and I ventured to the Courier Mail Home Show today (thanks Jason for the free tickets!). Having no idea what to expect, we were pleased to see a number of booths that appealed to our tastes. Both Kristy and I loved all of the furniture exhibits – with a bit more money to spend, we could have easily come home with a new couch, or a billiards table (though where would it go?). Kristy was also a big fan of the Enjo exhibit (they gave me a free lens cleaner!), and some super majick steam ironing thing.

Of course, it was the electronics exhibitors (Chandlers, Retravision, Brisbane Car Sound, etc) were the ones that took my fancy, and I couldn’t resist buying myself a new toy. So I’m now the proud owner of a Digital Set Top Box. It’s awesome! I didn’t go the whole hog and get the High Definition set-top box, as the price difference was somewhat out of my “new toy” range. Still, that can come later as an upgrade… after I get a TV with component video inputs.

Anyway, I spent the afternoon watching The Broncos vs The Warries, with a cold beer and a hot girl. What a life!!
